Summary
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES) and e-cigarette use among youth. The results showed that, contrary to the established SES gradient in cigarette smoking, there were no significant associations between SES and e-cigarette use, including flavored e-cigarette use. These findings were consistent with some studies but inconsistent with others, which found a weak association between e-cigarette use and low SES indicators. The study suggests that further research may be needed to examine whether different SES measures could account for the disparate findings across the literature. The analysis was conducted by Sunday Azagba, Todd Ebling, and Lingpeng Shan.
