Summary

This article outlines the history of Chinese tobacco and nicotine policy from the advent of ENDS devices. This contains up to date population data on Chinese smokers and provides a detailed explanation of different policies implemented to promote public health through cessation efforts and regulation of the e-cigarette industry. These plans include the Healthy China 2030 plan which aims to reduce the smoking rate to only 20% of those 15 years of age and older by 2030 by strengthening tobacco control. They also include other policies aimed at eliminating ENDS and combustible device sale to teenagers and some policies which aim to reduce overall use by the introduction of high taxes and eimination of smoking or device use in public spaces.
